If you could create your own empire what would that look like?
That question actually relates to Finish this Book, but you’ll have to buy it to find out more. It is officially out there in stores and is already getting some nice reviews. I am working on my own answer to this question currently and it involves writing a manifesto.
Some things to report:
There is a giveaway at Wired’s Geek Dad blog.
here is a sweet review.
p.s. and what does this have to do at all with fungus. absolutely nothing. i just like that photo.
p.p.s. still living in the “House of Colic”. hoping for a bit more relief soon as we hit the three month mark in three weeks. to say it has been challenging is a bit of an understatement. we persevere.

it’s also a mess.

That is such a wonderful question. My mind is fluttering all over the place with the images it brings. And pairing up with that photo, it’s just a magical experience, pondering this.

The only good colic advise is no advise. You;ll find what works for your little one. Hope sooner than earlier. For our little guys, late night walks to the mailbox helped. Or at least it kept our mind off of it for a while.

Much love to the people who live in the house of colic.

Ah! I began answering that question more than 10 years ago! And it’s still not finished… I’m almost certain that it never will be – though it keeps on growing. That’s what I love most about it! :) Thank you so much for bringing it back to my mind!
I think I shall add ‘colic-free’ to the concept…
P.S.: I started to ‘finish that book’ yesterday and already I’m so in love with it! It’s so exciting – I feel like a child every time I open it! :D

Why did the mushroom go to a party? … Because he was a fungi (fun guy).

Hey, I just bought your newest book, its great :-D My little son is sleeping already and the big one went out with daddy, NOW I HAVE TIME ! Yipiiiiiie. Five Minutes. My little one had colics too, its now better but he is still a “Heulsuse” we say in germany. Haha, but i love him so much <3 You are a great inspiration, thanks for this! Greetings from Germany!

I have a negative, somewhat visceral reaction to the word empire. Empires have not been good for some of my people.
However, I am on a journey to invite people back to their innate loving selves. Rationalism and behaviourism have gotten us stuck in a harsh world. I want to be part of creating a community of soft-hearts and generous spirits.

I’d be much more interested in creating a book than creating an empire, I think : )

my empire would die in a day

My copy of the book arrived (in the UK) today!

My empire would be full of bubbles and glitter and tasty things. It would be a mess anda riot of colour (often clashing). In my world there would be room for scientists and artists alike. This empire would definitely contain my little box of knowledge (former green swiss army gun box-turned drinks box-turned treasure box)There would be a weird gravity- a bit like when you are scuba diving and you inhale and go up a little, exhale and go down. It would be sunny and there would also be a large body of water, preferably the sea.
It would be entirely populated by libertarians and natural flora and fauna. Everyone would be smiling and friendly…

The photograph is what caught my eye with this one. When I was in my first months of pregnancy ( I am due next month) I would walk in the woods behind my house snapping random shots of fungus, and other such growths around trees. My empire would include free spirits, discovery, happy babies, and soothing sounds that flow along each and every gust of wind.
