perforation is always good

web meanderings…
an article discussing adfree blog in the Globe and Mail, in which i am interviewed briefly.
projects by shay alkalay, (link from camilla)
february is “create-a-thing-a-day” month. rules as follows: Participants create one new work/exercise a day. Choose your own themes, one per week. Work in any medium. And post your work on the group blog every day.
created by artist mouna andraous. my favourites of hers are pillow music and the 4 parts clock, “A clock that speeds up when you do, wakes you up only when it’s sunny and mirrors how much is going on around you.”
some brilliant students at mcgill university have started guerilla composting.
borderlines, a kind of perforated fabric you can cut into pieces to make tablecloths, napkins, or anything you wish. by designer diane steverlynk.
ordered myself a garden gourmet for the new house. how i love composting.

one of my books is going to print today, hooray! I am so happy with how it looks. the publisher/designer did a great job with the layout.

**fun trick: try scrolling this post up and down and see how it plays tricks on your eyes. i noticed this after posting it. play with different speeds and techniques.

nadine,
i’m really wanting to. there is always a danger with publishing of presenting something too far in advance of it being available. you want it to be fresh in people’s minds around the release date. when you have a book published, the time from creation to print is often at least six months to a year. i will start to talk about them soon, but this current one isn’t being released until next fall so out of respect for the publisher i am holding off a bit.
hope that explains it.

Hi Keri,
Congratulations on your book! I join you in your HOORAY.
Also, I am drooling over the “borderlines” in your post. I’m wishing I could buy it here in Canada. I can imagine using it as a table cloth for sure. :)

Congrats on your book! HOORAY!
Great blog entry as always. Have you tried worm composting (vermiculture)? I think I will stick with your common outside variety. The worms decided they didn’t like it in my house and tried to escape. Seriously! There was an egg size mass of them rolling down my staircase. Needless to say, I became the local robin’s best friend last summer.

Oh wow, the borderlines fabric is a great idea! Sort of a tear-off line for fabrics instead of paper. Brilliant! Imagine people using the table cloth to blow their noses by ripping off sections of it! Haha!
And I’m de-lurking the whole of January – I’s one of those people who have you on Bloglines, but rarely come by to visit the real blog. Shame really, because your blog is pretty and inspirational!
