While searching for references to the “artist’s survival kit” for a school project [am undertaking a Masters in Arts Education], I found your site, to my great delight! A real pick-me-up… Am in the midst of a big questioning of my whole life as an artist, stuck in a creative wasteland and experiencing a sense of loss of identity—sob, sob, bring out the violins— anyway,THANK YOU for all of it. I’m having so much fun exploring all your posts, reading yr various essays and adventures in creativity. Very inspiring and encouraging. As well as being a lovely artist I’m sure you’re a great teacher too…

Keri – Just wanted to thank you for writing Mess. Last weekend one of my 7th grader students died in an accident, and it has been a VERY difficult week. By Wednesday, we all needed something to help us smile, so I shared the page in Mess with the picture of the man who needs help loosening up. We all defaced him and I finally saw some smiles on my kids. I know your book will be filled this year by kids who when having a bad day, just need to borrow my book and have fun making a mess. Thanks again.
