“I was interested, and still am, in starting from the unknown. I’m still looking for steps that break the mold and disturb the traditional apparatus. I have the feeling every time I make a new piece that at last I’m beginning.”

This moved me in such a way that I can’t even put into words…..may I use this quote on my blog? Thank you.

Merce Cunningham was a choreographer, so “steps” here refers to dance steps, apparatus might refer to the human body or simply way of doing things. Ask yourself what are you taking for granted,( if you are a painter, it might be painting on white paper) and then deliberately escape from it.

Keri,
I just wanted to say thanks for your inspiration. I am an artist/art therapist working in the UK developing work in creative arts and spirituality.
I am using some of your ideas for a project over advent – searching out wonder in the ordinary – you can see it on my blog http://www.iaskforwonder.com
Best wishes,
Ric

Keri, when we feel we are down we seek for inspiration. Hopefully we do this to regain ourselves from all the negativities the world ‘blessed’ us. A diamond sparks more when blended thoroughly by its molder, which also makes it more precious. Anyway, we may be confused to find ourselves in the journey ‘yet’ with hope we can make some ‘power’ steps to shine -those ‘power’ steps that challenge us now for a new hope. When you feel it have been the end, you’ll know you’re just starting it -making a change. -Diana
