day 28-modes of impermanence in my neighborhood

create-a-thing-a-day month officially comes to a close. tomorrow i will write about the experience, though i am still processing much of it. I am not ready to stop, and did consider doing it for a year (but i do have other projects that need my attention). we are tentatively planning to do it again (possibly in july), and i will be attending a meeting in new york in a couple of weeks to discuss future plans. the project was created in conjunction with eyebeam and nyu (tisch).

while i am not embarking on this project for an audience (but rather for my own creative growth), out of curiosity how many of you would be interested in watching me go through this process again?

I bet we´d all enjoy a month like this again. I would, certainly. I´m even considering embarking on it myself, but have to get a few deadlines out of the way first.

I have truly enjoyed your create-a-thing-a-day month. It has sparked a new inspiration in my own creativeness, and I find myself observing the things surrounding me in everyday life with different lenses. It is so refreshing! Thank you.

Posted by: Alex on March 2, 2007 07:19 PM

Keri,
I always enjoy stopping by here to see what you are up to, even if I don't say anything. You constantly amazing me and I loved this work over the past month. You have helped me see things in a new way- as art should. You also helped to reinforce the whole idea of impermanence that I have been trying to practice and learn with my yoga (also letting go of having to control things, which ties right back to the permanent/impermanent thing)

I would love to see more of this...

Keri,
It was really intereting to see these exercises and how the were evolving in complexity and scope. I specially loved your "connections" theme and I found myself more aware of the materials and how they go together in my own work. I would love to see it again, I think if you do it for a year you could make it into a book of exploration in creativity. I want to participate next time too!
best of luck.

Delurking to say a big YES to watching this creative process again. I am just amazed each day to witness how open to life you are and how closed off to the creativity inside of myself I am.

Thanks so much for allowing us to see your new creations each day.

Posted by: Star on March 1, 2007 12:05 PM

Yes! I love your create-a-thing a day project! It's been very inspiring and I'm afraid I'm going to have keri blog withdrawals without them to look forward to each day.

I found you via a knitting blog a couple of weeks ago and I've been hooked ever since. I vote YES! And this time, I'm going to play along.

Posted by: Sharon on March 1, 2007 11:31 AM

Absolutely, I say go for it again! You've got such a deep pool of creativity to draw from, why the heck not?! Thanks for writing such an inspiring blog by the way, it is just plain super.

Posted by: JulieZS on March 1, 2007 11:22 AM

I don't know if I've ever left a comment but I do stop by often. Loved this project! You've got a fresh perspective on things. I could watch another round for sure! Thank you for the continuing inspiration.

Posted by: Sarah Jane on March 1, 2007 11:05 AM

I found it really interesting to observe the process and be inspired by different actions that resonated for me.

But I also like the free-flowing responsiveness of your usual postings. Either way I'll certainly continue checking in. Thanks!

Posted by: shannon on March 1, 2007 10:29 AM

Keri,
I am a faithful reader of your blog under any circumstances, but I loved watching your creative process with this project. I learned a lot about making connections from seemingly unrelated things. love it!!

Posted by: Kerri P on March 1, 2007 10:12 AM

I enjoyed the ride very much. I'd love to see you do it again, but no need to pressure yourself to post daily. Post when you feel like it. :)

Posted by: Keet on March 1, 2007 09:46 AM

I chime in with another YES! I found this site a couple of weeks ago and have been charmed and delighted and inspired.

Posted by: Caron on March 1, 2007 09:38 AM

....I am often wholeheartedly entertained, amused, intrigued, and genuinely inspired by the most unusual, eclectic, and inane things. That being said, your blog (and book) are a constant source of outside the box thinking for me.
My husband thinks we both ought to be fitted for those not so stylish white coats (the ones that buckle in the back and provide a relatively perplexing feature for your arms and hands).
It could be due to the fact that one day I was prompted to collect, save, and catalog all the things that "tie", one encounters on any given day.

I sincerely look forward to the next foot of your Smeri Kith journey. I pledge to be along for the trek.

Posted by: Nikki the Pixie on March 1, 2007 09:30 AM

Keri,

I found this blogs thanks to a friend of mine (cecilia who has an amazing blog named unaflordepapel.blogspot).

This blog is very interesting, from different points of view:visual, from the concepts...I ´m really happy.

I would like you to show what I do if you like: www.unameriendaporfavor.blogspot.com

Posted by: s on March 1, 2007 08:01 AM

I want to go through it myself! As a writer, I'm not sure exactly how to alter the project for a strictly written medium, but I'm excited and inspired.

Posted by: an awfully serious girl on March 1, 2007 07:51 AM

Yes please - it's been creatively stimulating! Thank you.

Posted by: Joanna on March 1, 2007 07:44 AM

You should definetly have another stab at it! It was really inspiring watching you pull apart a theme and get messy with it. I'm going to try the same thing, it's a great way to get the mind going. Thanks for the inpisration! You're doing really great things with this site Kerry, it helps remind me what art is all about... expressing yourself and pushing your cretivity because you have a passion for it, not because you want to impress a critic or get a sweet rep. Ah, it's all fun :)

Keep it up please,
Lisa

oh, it's been wonderful. I've enjoyed it very much, and if it hadn't been for the fact that I'm moving to a new apartment and everything is upside down her, I would have sat down to create something every day, that's how inspired I have been. so thanks a lot for sharing!

Hi, i've found this latest project really interesting. I would have loved to join in, but as i started my first professional job when you started this, i lacked the energy. so, thanks for the daily inspiration. i may not have created daily, nor done my morning pages daily (argh!) but you made me think about it - something i feared would slip as i took on the scary new job.

I've managed to make a bag this month, will step up my creative frequency next month, so maybe by july i'll be onto daily!

thanks for asking. thanks for creating.

Posted by: cate/spiral on March 1, 2007 04:46 AM

I'd be very interested to see this continue - every day has produced something new and inspiring. If you'd consider posting daily prompts, I'm sure many other people would love to spend a month stretching their creative muscles this way. Thanks for all the food for thought you share!

Definitely do this again. I've been going to your blog almost everyday just to see what you've been up to next. Your work really is inspiring. I'd love to do the same, but right now I'm working one a collage a day, again inspired by your morning collages. I'm obviously a huge fan... :)

Posted by: Fojee on March 1, 2007 12:37 AM

Please keep on doing this for as long as you can. It has been so inspirational to me. Your freedom to do just about anything creatively has really opened me up as well. I'd love to see where it all goes.

Posted by: Angela on March 1, 2007 12:32 AM

I'd be interested to see more. Some of the stuff really struck me, and some of it did not, and some of it made me want to do something, and those were the best.

What is the second picture on the left? It looks like a former bird, but I can't quite tell.

Posted by: Dave Vogt on March 1, 2007 12:32 AM

I could watch you do this for as long as I am alive. Which, if everything goes according to plan, should be a while.

This was such an inspiring series, I had to post about it on my blog. Your ability to inspire creativity in others is such a gift.

Thank you for your generosity in sharing (and for asking who'd be interested in staying tuned).

Sign me up!

I've enjoyed it quite a bit. I wanted to participate but I'm still trying to get on a regular schedule with basic stuff like brushing my teeth and walking my dog. Slacker style. Still, it's intriguing. And a reminder that just creating is an act of art and the truest form of art.
