this is not exactly the execution i was going for but i wanted to get this one out.
description: an interactive calendar in which the user tears off a piece of paper for each day. the “days” once torn are then strung together in a kind of garland. the process of displaying the days that have passed is intended to make one more aware of the passing of time. (while also reusing materials which have outworn their function.) in a sense the passage of time is transformed into a celebration.
This would be really cool to do with kids during Advent, making a chain of days (maybe each one with an activity) that can be hung on the tree or elsewhere, reminding them of the days and the activities they shared.
Or, you could do it for a whole year and then decorate for a New Year's party. You could write down significant (or not so "significant") things that happened each day, and during the party you could remember together how the year went.

It reminds me of an hourglass, in that the paper garland shows the flow of the days that pass.
oh my GOSH! I love it. I volunteer at park and we do recycled crafts. I think this is a must do out of recycled paper! LOVE the Idea!
