here i am, here am i

after a long journey, which involves many stories including one about a decision to abandon the trailer after feeling it was unsafe and quickly unloading a lot (most) of our stuff onto a family member's front lawn and then giving most of it to the goodwill in portland, and another about a rock bouncing off of another car and shattering our back window,

i am here,

in Troy.

and I have not yet had a moment to breathe.

the move has not gone as smoothly as hoped, there have been a few tears, several bumpy moments, some cranky moments, a few laughs,

and yet some of the events have once again convinced me that the universe knows better than I.

i so want to share more details with you, but it is not time yet. nothing is life threatening, i'm just trying to let go and trust yet again. (As my good friend Stu used to say, "Is there any blood?... No?... Then there's nothing to worry about.")

but i really need some help, (those of you who know me well probably know that I do not like to ever ask for help), but i am trying to working on that.

and so, I need to ask you to send me some good energy right now. I could really use it. in the form of a simple thought or some extra love if you have it lying around.

know that it will be most appreciated. i will take a moment right now to breathe be grateful for everything that i have, sometimes it's enough just to stop and think about that. I feel my tense muscles relax a bit just writing that.

the adventure continues, more to follow...

p.s. my access to internet is limited so know that if you write I may take a while to respond, (I write currently from a cafe on 4th street).

Keri, sometimes good energy comes about through knowing you've done something good for others, so you should know that you've done something good for me. I first stumbled upon site years ago. I have never commented, but you should know that a lot of what you have said, either through your blog or Wish Jar Tales has really resonated with me. Mini-vacations have proved particularly good for me. Thank you for the reminder that spending time reflecting, relaxing and expressing myself creatively can leave me feeling so good. Right now things might feel pretty chaotic for you, so I wish you lots of positive energy and a sense of peace. Suzanne.

i just read this because i am so behind on blogs...and i am now sending good thoughts...late...but still...here is what is so odd...i read your blog and imagine your life being pretty together and smooth and perfect...because you have such a calm yet creative vibe about your writing and work...so this was a good wake up to me, who always tells everyone else not to assume to know other people and the things that they go through...that i need to not presume myself. i am sure it will all work itself out. and in a better way than you can imagine.

Keri, I really miss your blog when you are otherwise engaged so its in my best interests to send you an elephant helping of positive energy. Remember the words of Saint Francis of Assisi:
"Start by doing what is necessary;
then do what's possible;
and suddenly you are doing the impossible."

Once I had an operation to take out my gull bladder (ouch) I felt so ill and bad I thought I was going to die. A friend leaned over the bed and whispered, "It won't get worse than right now, it's only going to get better" I don't know why these words sank so deep in me, but I kept repeating them over and over until finally, It did get better. I have used this mantra several times in my life for different reasons, and has always helped me get through the moment of pain (not always physical pain)
now I share it whith you, you can borrow it and use it, if you like.
best wishes to you in your new home

I'm on my way to yoga soon and that seems like the perfect situation to send good energy from so you can have all of mine for the day. Good luck.

I have no idea how to do that, send energy. But I do wish you all the best. And be careful trusting the universe, it doesn't do much of a job for millions on this planet.

Hi Keri,

Here are some words that might help. They are about love and taking risks, not necessarily about moving, but I think they are good for many situations.

Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with it’s yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself that you tasted as many as you could.

Good energy, good luck, good drawing, good BREATHING! Keri, your book continues to inspire me, so much so that it still (2 years?later) hasn't found a home on my bookshleves - because it's always out somewhere so I can dip into it! you so ROCK!!

Nothing ever succeeds as planned (a Joseph Heller quote...wish I'd written it...). All will be well, and all will be well, and all manner of things will be well. Now those wise words are from Julian of Norwich, one of the first spiritual women to write her thoughts down...and wise they are...
Remember to take care of yourself. Good thoughts and wishes on their way...

Congrats! You made it!!! Moving is horrible! (we have to move our living/working space this month right in the middle of a huge assignment). Every time we move we vow: That this WILL be the LAST time ever. We will grow old and die... Right here... In this crappy building that shakes every time a squirrel hops onto the roof. So we keep moving on up. But once you catch some sleep, and set things up you'll be excited again. Sleep is the most important bit of that process.
So here's some happy vibes to you from the crew that has yet to move. Enjoy the new neighborhood!

Posted by: Phoinix on August 1, 2006 01:19 AM

Hi Keri, I am sending you energy. I think maybe it is okay to not feel like you can move mountains. I always think that I have to move mountains and am just learning that it is okay to have the energy to just do one small thing. I am also realizing that the times when I think that I don't have the time or energy to do yoga, go for a walk, or a jog because there are too many things to do and I don't have the energy for all of them. That's the time when I need to take a bit of time and do those things. Because they give me energy and it is an energy that begets even more energy.

Also, Keri thank-you for asking for help. I also usually never ask for help and just before I read this I decided I needed to ask for help.

Blessings and remember that watching the sun rise with a cup of tea or the sun set with a cup of coco (or whatever your beverage of choice) can often give you more energy then anything else.

Yesterday as I was going to bed I thought of how you have written about sometimes opening a book and finding just the right words. So I picked up The Wisdom of the Heart by Henry Miller (it's been on my wish list for a while and I just received it) and my eyes instantly fell on a few lines on page 89:

"We live on the edge of the miraculous every minute of our lives. The miracle is in us, and it blossoms forth the moment we lay ourselves open to it. The miracle of miracles is the stubbornness with which men refuse to open themselves up. Our whole life seems to be nothing more but a frantic effort to evade that which is constantly in our grasp."

And with that my heart felt lighter.

You have sent such a huge lot of good energy my way through this blog and if I could return just a little bit it would make me really happy. So I'm sending you a lot of love, all the way from Sweden. I hope you'll feel better soon!
