tornado warnings,
paper clips,
book sightings,
picnics,
muddy shoes,
push pins,
postcards,
ideas,
bottle caps,
seed pods,
paper cranes,
rusty things,
broken bikes (that can never be fixed),
blooming narcissus,
narcissism,
damp,
strong coffee,
notes wildly scribbled in secret notebooks,
like proust i am an old teahead of time,
pieces of string holding up my collections,
i collect experiences and phone calls, and human pains,
while waiting for the mail.
*This* drawing is very powerful. I kept scrolling back up to it. I'm more often than not waiting for the next good thing to arrive, the current pain to leave, rather than appreciating the present. It reminds me that, with a twist on Howard Zinn's own beautiful words: Life is an infinite succession of 'presents'. If we're not living for the now, then we're not living. If not now, then when? This IS it. All the raw material is here within that circle that you drew. Every day is an opportunity to appreciate what is.
Posted by: Amanda on March 1, 2006 05:38 PMI saw in your blog on an earlier date that you have sent off a new book. Could you tell us more about it? Is it something like Living Out Loud, which is my favourite book ever! I hope so!
Posted by: Zoe on March 1, 2006 05:42 AMThis is perfect for how I'm feeling...thanks for sharing.

Posted by: shari on February 28, 2006 09:12 PMThis is perfect for today, since I was especially thinking about enjoying the small things in life more than the obvious ones. Not that tornado warnings are a good thing, but they're something we have to deal with, so we might as well make the best of them. Paper cranes, I love. And I am very partial to notes wildly scribbled in secret notebooks... I have millions of those in my house....
Posted by: Sabine S. on February 28, 2006 08:54 PMI love this...it puts me in mind of William Carlos Williams and my beloved Beats (old teaheads of time as they were). Thanks for leading me to pay attention.

the thrill of water.
blue skies.
green jacket mornings.
i needed to read something like this today. i don't know why, or exactly what part of it is clicking with me (the speed? the simplicity? or the way "this is it" is circled over and over again)...whatever it is, thanks.

Posted by: bohemiangirl on February 28, 2006 03:17 PM I just wanted to stop by and say hello. It's been many a moon since I did! (insert shame here) I have visited though! :)
Funny you should mention paper cranes. A few days ago someone gifted me with a giant jar full of beautiful paper cranes in every size and color you can imagine!
Take Care Miss Keri!
Beautiful.
