I had fun making this, in an attempt to get me into the holiday spirit. Being in a completely different climate everything feels a bit disjointed. None of my regular x-mas cues are here, (snow, hauling firewood, mennonites). And so I am doing what I can to feel festive. Today I am going to the co-op to get some cider.
also for fun...for those of you who find yourself in a mild climate this holiday...

Posted by: Chel Micheline on December 6, 2005 10:47 PMSpeaking of holidays, us southern-hemisphere folk are now in our summer holidays (who needs snow for Christmas?). All the kids hanging around home, and the main tune they sing is "I'm BORED!"...
However, your 100 ideas has come to the rescue! I printed them out, got my son to cut them up and put them in a jar, and now when the regular tune exits his mouth I simply point him in the direction of your ideas.
You have my endless thanks!!!!!! :)
Posted by: Michelle on December 6, 2005 05:29 AMMakes a fantastic office decoration or party hat -THANKS KERI!!!
Posted by: Amanda on December 5, 2005 01:27 PMI printed out your tree yesterday and my three year old and I will be decorating it today. It's our special project while his older siblings are at school and baby sister is napping. it's such an adorable tree, I'm excited to make it with him. thank you!

Love the one before.
Can't wait to read the next one.
Thanks for the snow. It's summer and stinking hot here in Australia right now, and this snow doesn't melt. Perfect. :o)
Posted by: Terri on December 4, 2005 08:39 PMYou are cracking me up! I love these!
Posted by: Swirly on December 4, 2005 12:39 PMyou're so awesome Keri! there's snow here in toronto (not much but the ground is dusty white). i like your snow better though.....it will always be white (no dog pee or slush). hoorah!
Posted by: amanda on December 4, 2005 10:47 AMooooh, I'm so hoping my kids go for this tree. I'm dreading putting up the big one for both space and 9 month old crawling baby issues. This tree is perfect for me...now if I can just sell the kids on it. hmmm...maybe if I compromise and let them color the ornaments......
Posted by: Sharyn (torm) on December 4, 2005 10:43 AMI love you for the snow.
Posted by: Ali on December 3, 2005 11:29 PMSo much fun! The snow is an especially nice here in Texas where it was (gasp!) 83 deg today. I'm curious, though -- what is particularly Christmasy about Mennonites?
Posted by: Bonnie on December 3, 2005 11:20 PMLovely! Your blog is a true delight and I'd love to send you some treats. Email me a po box and I'll send fun...

Posted by: Gen on December 3, 2005 04:40 PMHey! That Christmas tree is brilliant, I'm going to print it to an A2 sheet when I get back in the office on Monday. Perfect.
Your newest fan,
Simon
I love this. I miss more of this kind of stuff on your blog. The paper doll's and playful idea's. They make me happy. I'm glad to see your imagination's still alive and kicking!
Posted by: beth maher on December 3, 2005 11:53 AMthe snow is brilliant! Love the idea of a desktop tree.
Posted by: frida on December 3, 2005 06:31 AMHi Keri,
Although we have the snow here in New England I am, too, feeling a distinct sense of displacement this Christmas. My husband and I have been living in a room at a friend's house for the last two months and we won't be able to spend Christmas at our home this year. Living in this "monster house" is quite a challenge and there won't be any decorations unless you count the monsters!
Your tree brings us wonderful delight and reminded me of being a kid again, cutting out and coloring shapes which I always loved. You can see an image of it here.
Thank you and Merry Christmas :)

Posted by: Kerstin on December 2, 2005 11:35 PMHi there, I just HAD to tell you how much fun my children had (and me too!) making this tree..it really got us into the holiday spirit.
Thanks so much.:)
Long-time reader but, I think, first-time commenter. Your gorgeous little Christmas tree could not go unthanked! That is so cute--gorgeousness on paper. Now I want to think of something I can do for my blog readers for Christmas!
:o)
Posted by: danielle on December 2, 2005 09:35 PMOh! I can't wait to try this--I'll photograph the results.
Thanks so much for sharing! If we have a nice Missouri winter, we'll send some snow out your way.
Posted by: beastlysum on December 2, 2005 07:22 PMI miss the snow too, and I absolutely love the instant snow. Thank you! The tree made me grin THIS BIG. :)
Posted by: Feisty on December 2, 2005 05:06 PMYou just have no idea how utterly and completely you have made my day with these. Particularly the snow. I love the snow.
Bless your heart...

Posted by: la vie en rose on December 2, 2005 02:39 PMWhat fun! The tree is glued and waiting for its decorations (although I couldn't resist doing the santa hat topper straight away and it added a little cotton ball tip)!
Thanks again!!

Posted by: stef on December 2, 2005 12:12 PMIt’s true that I’m procrastinating and that anything is a welcome distraction this morning, but the tree is now glued and sitting on the table with all of the work I’m supposed to be doing and I can’t stop grinning at it. For some reason it’s making me really happy, so thank you!
