Hi Keri,
I've been in all sorts of planes over the years and the small ones are my favourites. And although I have developed an irrational fear of flying I still love the feeling of freedom and awe of nature every time I get into my friend's seaplane that takes me from Vancouver over to the islands. Definitely a much bumpier ride; the air, like water, creates waves and you feel those a lot more in a small boat rather than a huge cruiseship, right?
Kinda like life really, the smaller and more alone you are the more you feel the bumps; so it's a good thing to build a larger support structure made of friends and meaningful work to help us sail through a bit more smoothly. Mind you, every now and then, it's good and fun to go out on your own again and feel the waves that make your tummy laugh.
Take care, Kerstin
Posted by: Kerstin on October 13, 2005 11:43 AMOh this was fun. I love to see your handwriting and read things written out long hand. They have such a different feel. Somehow more tender and sensitive, more immediate. Wow--a what a great airplane adventure too!!
Posted by: christina on October 12, 2005 08:50 PMExcellent, I'm envious. I too have had similar times regarding the matter.
Posted by: Tod23 on October 12, 2005 07:33 PMI love you blog. Come here all the time now!
I even wrote a post about you in my blog.
And as I said there:
Thank you!
i like your handwritten entries. they are sweet and to the point. i handwrite my journals almost exclusively so it is nice to see someone else's handwritten journal.
i think there is a difference between typing a journal entry and writing it down. both are good in their own ways, but handwriting is the way to go for me. :)

Posted by: Swirly on October 11, 2005 10:33 PMAh...One Hundred Years of Solitude...tell Jeff that I agree its an amazing book. My parents thought so too, so much so that they named me after one of the characters...I have a special affinity with the fantastic worlds created by Gabriel Garcia Marquez...ciao
Posted by: remedios on October 11, 2005 06:35 PMOh, the handwritten entry is very nice. I like your illustrations.
Posted by: Lu on October 11, 2005 03:35 PMi love that song but i thought it was martha and the muffins, a canadian band who did that song?...w/e sounds awesome with mountains, volcanos, lakes and pie...i think i woulda been slightly terrified in that wee plane but sometimes the terror in itself is exhilarating, no?
Posted by: patricia on October 11, 2005 02:50 PM1.The clearest water I've ever seen/swam in was near Mt. Shasta. Unreal. What a tremendous place. Magical. 2.Dig the handwritten entry with the drawings. It's a cool way to communicate. 3.I hear they might turn Confederacy of Dunces into a movie. Drew Barrymore..Wil Ferrell..Mos Def..
Posted by: M on October 11, 2005 11:19 AMYes - the handwritten entry is so much more fun to read!!
Love the handwritten entry!
Posted by: Carrie on October 11, 2005 10:54 AMyou're right--writing is better than typing! thanks for sharing it this way.
Posted by: adele on October 11, 2005 10:42 AMIt sounds like you had a lovely weekend! I love it when you post your handwriting. I always like to see what people's handwriting looks like. It's part of who you are, isn't it?
Posted by: Anja on October 11, 2005 08:37 AMI so love the way you shared this post with us ... handwritten with your small drawings. I was imagining how different it would have been if you'd just typed out the words ... soooo different, and not nearly as wonderful. Thank you!
Posted by: maria on October 11, 2005 08:29 AMMy mother is preparing to move from Mt. Shasta to Las Vegas...can you imagine?!? Yeah, me neither. Sounds like you had a lovely excursion. It's beautiful, our state, eh? ;)
