In every bookstore, small or large, there are books we have not read; books which may have messages of unsuspected beauty or importance. They may be new books, they may be of yesterday, or of long ago.
The store where you found this volume exists in the hope of knowing--and learning--about books. There is no habit more valuable than that of dropping into a bookstore occasionally to look round--to look both inward and outward.

Posted by kerismith at May 03, 2005 02:07 PMWhat a wonderful thought! I often find myself taking refuge in a bookstore. I go there to find new ideas, inspiration or just to occupy myself. There is nothing more wholesome than immersing yourself into a good book. I love your site and visit it every day...keep up the good work!

So true! I'm such a book-o-holic!
Love your blog, Keri! Discovered your site a few months ago, and I've been stopping by now every few days for a little inspiration....also waiting for my "Bust" magazine ;)
Posted by: Tammy on May 4, 2005 06:54 PMThank goodness for books. There are worlds and worlds to discover, especially when this one occasionally disappoints. I had a professor once who said that if everyone read books (he was speaking of literary fiction) we wouldn't need psychiatrists. Every human condition is lived out and worked out in books.

And I really love your Homepage and style!!
Every time I go in to a bookstore I look for the book that is waiting for me. I know it's sort of silly but there are so many books I want to read and I imagine that there is one undiscovered just waiting for me, one that will cheer me up or enlighten me. whatever the case may be that day.
Posted by: ana on May 4, 2005 12:49 AMI sometimes think about how there are countless books I have not read (countless movies I haven't seen, countless songs I haven't heard, countless paintings I haven't seen) and how it's very likely that I've not yet discovered my favorite.
However, I also realize that I may never discover what could have been my favorite. It's sort of heartbreaking but the possibility that I might discover something amazing keeps me exploring.
