"There is a deep wide rich world in which to travel and in which to have one's senses opened and reopened without limitation." -Rolf Fehlbaum
The sun is out. I am going to go out and smell the earth. drive with the windows open. turn the music up and sing along.
I want to delve into little comforts, things that make me feel good.
In the aformentioned interview Maira posed the question,

ditto on the japanese paper - easily comes before significant others! ;)

Posted by: katiek on April 11, 2005 09:32 PMWhat a fabulous list of luciousness! I made my own also - thank you for posting it.
Posted by: Kristen on April 9, 2005 11:20 PMare these in order of how crazy and happy and giddy they make you ;) in that case, I love that "japanese paper" is a few notches above "husband" (smile)
Posted by: reflectionary on April 9, 2005 12:35 PMI loved your list. I loved the idea of it. I had to do one too.
Posted by: kathreen on April 9, 2005 03:55 AMI saw your list and thought, what a great idea. So I started to write one, and as I was listing things, I realized I was writing down the very same things I had gathered in two old lists - and just the thought of these things made me happy. Funny how they reminded me of what I already knew but had forgotten. So thank you, because I needed that.
Posted by: esmeseed on April 9, 2005 02:29 AMI am digging your list as it reminds me of many comforts of my own.
Posted by: Lu on April 8, 2005 09:31 PM- lime slush
- a really good line in a book
- long layovers in big airports
- things i want but can't buy
- hips pressed together
- zine fairs
- coming home from a trip to so many e-mails & phone messages
- fuschia knit
- the music they play in bowling alleys
- mini-herb plants
- ice-cream on hot days
- dripping bright watercolors
- strutting with my ipod playing loudly
i find comfort in your list.
And as always, in your handwriting. Scrawly and marvelous!
Posted by: The Faery Grrrl on April 8, 2005 06:06 PMYour list reminded me of 2 lists I like to make every once in a while - one list is of things I feel like doing or being, no matter how wild and improbable they are (If I feel like being a goat herder in Alaska, I write it down). Then I write a list of things I have, my favourite "assets" so to speak - like skills, friends, certain qualities..
It's interesting to compare those lists afer a while, and I usualy write down things that affected them, like medical examinations, or being tired of my job. It's always a great feeling to find out how much we have, and that we always have aspirations even when we think we don't anymore. It's also interesting to see how the perspective changes with things that happen to us - one day you want to fly to guatemala, one day you just want to be healthy again..
Posted by: Ayelet on April 8, 2005 04:49 PMIt is such a magnifficent practice to reroute, re-root yourself by packaging your connections into a wonderful list, not a list of to-dos, but a list of what brings you joy. It is an empowering way to remember where you are in a moment in time. With the list you can re-create those joys. what types of smells are most striking to you? What is the most vibrant and particular note that you have ever recieved in the mail? what was the texture, the color, and how did the medium contribute to the message?-thank you for your musings and sharing-sara curtis from ypsilanti mi
