Every once in a while I look up at the bulletin board that hangs above my work desk and smile. On it there is this photo of Henry Miller. A little trick I learned from my friend Kristan. I thought I would pass this on because sometimes things that feel a little silly can really help you out when you least expect it.
Instructions:
1. Find a photo of a person whom you really admire. It could be your parents, the Dali Lama, Buddha, Albert Einstein, or even yourself if you like.
2. On a piece of paper draw a thought bubble. Write an affirmation or some words of encouragement in the bubble.
3. Cut out the bubble and glue or tape it to the photo. Hang it in a prominent place. Feel good knowing that you are supported no matter what happens.
Happy Holidays!!!

Here i sit in my small house, itīs snowstorm outside and Iīm thankful for that I donīt have to go anywhere today.
One of the things that I have decided to do before this year is over is to thank you, Keri for your book and your blog. Many things that you are thinking and writing about are the same things I have wondered about for a long time now.
I think it is rather strange to write to a complete sranger in another country. But I wanted you to know that your writing is liked here in Iceland to.
I took a picture of my grandmother and great grandmother and wrote in the bubble " we know that you will complete the things you are working at"

Thank you

I think I'd take a photo of Gandhi and the caption would read: "You think YOU'RE hungry!" or maybe, "Wanna fight?" or perhaps, simply, "You'll never be half as cool and I am, and I'm dead."
Maybe not affirmations, at least not in the sense that your readers are looking for, but nonetheless affirming to me. I'm not particularly adept and looking at the bright side but the absurd side I can almost always find.
Big love from a rainy but warmer-than-Canada Californian winter,
Christian
Posted by: Christian Kiefer on December 28, 2004 02:15 AMThanks for the great little idea. Instead of one I may have a couple - one is definitely going to be of Prince, maybe one of the band The Who - the more support I get - the better!! Thanks!!
Posted by: Jen on December 27, 2004 02:17 PMI love it! :)
Posted by: Angela Giles Klocke on December 27, 2004 01:33 PMI love your idea and your Miller image, though at first I thought it was Humphrey Bogart.
Posted by: Roberta on December 27, 2004 12:15 PMLike the idea. I am using Oprah!
Posted by: Lu on December 27, 2004 11:05 AMHappy Boxing Day Keri !
Posted by: m on December 26, 2004 01:56 PMIn my old house I had a photo of my editor hanging over my computer. And of my art director. And of a famous writer I once illustrated an article for. I still have to put them up in my new house, they keep me from having to pinch my arm.
Posted by: eliane on December 26, 2004 09:00 AMI should look for a pic of Hugh Jackman and put the bubble "You are beautiful, Toni." or "You are not fat."
Hahaha thanks for this great idea. :)
Happy Holidays!
Posted by: toni on December 25, 2004 10:42 PMThat's a cool idea. I could use a photo of elle macpherson in my fridge saying something like "I am here to help you keep your new year's resolutions- spit that chocolate/biscuit out of your mouth!"
