fired up

I saw the Motorcycle Diaries last night. It got me all fired up. There is an excitement in me, a feeling that good things (and big things) can be accomplished in small ways.

There are days when one feels like her voice does not made one tiny little dent on the hard scratchy surface of this planet, and then there are days when she feels like she sends a small ripple across a pond that spans the width of the earth.

All that is required of the artist is to put the energy (the words, the ideas, the paintings) out there, one little piece at a time. One feels something, then expresses something.

And that m'dear I can do. Yes I can.

As my creative writing professor in college was fond of saying, "When the Japanese were in a period of peace, they painting only fans."

What form will your revolution take?

I did it! I did speak to my MP last night. A first in my life. He was very supportive of my anti war stance and is going to use my vist to write again to the Prime Minister and foreign office.

I am trying to do my bit to improve working conditions for authors/freelance writers. I've been posting a lot of links to my blog that tell authors how to cut the best possible deal for themselves come contract negotiation time (not always easy!) and I asked a very simple but provocative question in my blog yesterday: should we be adding the freelance writer to the endangered species list?

So your journal post was very timely and meaningful for me, Keri. Thanks.

A good book to looke at if you are interested in changing the world is:
"The Gospel According to Larry" by Janet Tashjian

OH...glorious movie! "Let the world change you...
and you can change the world..."

Yes! Yes! Motion in the ocean . . . fire in the heart . . . throw it all together and find peace in the releasing the inner into the outer . . . maybe it'll be a seed, maybe a grin, maybe an hors d'oeuvre :)

I'm going to see my MP and tell him I'm NOT voting Labour again and why.

I saw the Motorcycle Diaries last week, and I also found it quite inspiring! The music, the scenery, and of course the story.

Right now my little revolution is a local scarf drive I have organized. I have taught all of my female friends to knit and we are donating scarves to the Edmonton Woman's Shelter. I love watching a good deed grow into something beautiful. Seeing all of those gals laugh and knit and laugh some more was a wonderful thing.

Ha! You're funny, Eliane! My revolution will be in the form of cartoons, baby.

My hubby and I always joke (in a kind way, don't worry) about who we are going to hang when the revolution comes.
