wandering blues

Dancing around my studio this morning to the Be Good Tanya's, song the littlest bird. "I love you so dearly, I love you so fearlessly. I wake you up early in the morning just to tell you I got the wandering blues." I made myself a deal yesterday, if I finished colouring 10 pages then I could go for a bike ride today. I must trick myself with little rewards these days. I laughed at this one, instead of ice cream or wine I get a long ride down a dirt road. HOORAY!!!

I bought a tiny journal when i was in CA, I wish now I had bought dozens of them. It is one and a half by two inches, and has a string so you can hang it around your neck. I find it quite handy for when I go on walks (or bike rides) and don't want to carry my heavy journal with me. Perfect for jotting down ideas, lists, notes, quotes, concepts you don't want to forget. Not so great for sketching, maybe tiny sketches.

and so I am off for a quick mini adventure.

"Social pressure is the enemy." -Joseph Campbell

Hello, i must say I love the music of the be-good Tanya's very much. Specially their second album.
My special favorite is Thrish, that's why I Po'girl too!

Oh Keri, if you think the Be Good Tanyas singing the Littlest Birds is good, you should hear it on Jolie Holland's first solo album "Catalpa." It will kill you dead dead dead (in a good way). Jolie was in the earlier incarnation of the Tanyas and then spun off into a solo career on the Anti- label (along with labelmates such as Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and my favorite, Joe Henry).

Thanks so much for telling us about the Be Good Tanyas. If you hadn't, I never would have heard about them. I went to their site and listened to some of their songs and now I love them! I think they're so great that I ordered their current CD online and I can't wait to get it in the mail. I think I'm going to order their first CD too. I'm with Hatai—I'd love to know about other favorite songs or CDs that you love.

i too had every intention of taking with me on the longest of bicycle journeys, the smallest and lightest of journals, but instead fell in love with a heavy sturdy yellow one, that will show well the bumps and bruises of the road. perhaps the sierras or the rockies will cause me to try convincing someone of a trade.

A couple of years ago two of my friends and I were waiting outside in the cold November rain (hehe, what a cliché) to be let in to a Weakerthans show. One of my friends had had a hard day & was fed up with everything & ready to pack it in (never having seen/heard The Weakerthans before). To make her feel better & stay for the show, I gave her my headphones & played her The Littlest Bird by The Be Good Tanyas (note: no apostrophe needed, it's a plural)... her face lit up & her mood was entirely changed! Horray! (And she loved The Weakerthans' show, too, so it was even MORE worth it.)

love love! the be good tanya's!
One of the members is now part of a wonderful girl band called Po'Girl. They are playing @ the Calgary Folk Music Festival! If you have the itch for some good tunes Keri, perhaps you should get a ticket!

I actually was introduced to the Be Good Tanya's through an older post on your site, and now I'm a huge fan. For a future post, could you consider listing some of your favorite songs and albums?
