new world

"Upside-down trees swingin' free,
Busses float and buildings dangle:
Now and then it's nice to see
The world--from a different angle."

if you haven't been, run don't walk to Shel Silverstein.com

'goodbye, i'm going out to play!'

Oh thank you for a great idea! (You have a plethora of ideas!) To back track ... I'm in charge of the Scholastic book club in my daughter's class! I'm the "Book Mom"! Remember how wonderful it was to receive a book order from Scholastic? Well, I messed up royally! I thought that I mailed the last order, only to find it weeks later ... too late to place the order! Doh! So, I'm thinking that I'll print the Poetry Kit for the "April is Poetry Month" campaign, give a copy to every child, and have a draw for a Shel Silverstein book at my cost! I feel so guilty! Hopefully the teacher won't mind that the book is in English ... my daughter is in French Immersion! For the draw I'll take an afternoon off work to do it, and then read to the kids for the afternoon. I know that they would love it because before I started working I used to voluteer in the class regularly, and lately the kids have been asking me when I'm coming back! Anyhow, I diverge ... thanks for the link, which sprouted the idea!

Thank you for the magic link.

Silverstein is pure gold.

Does that make him Goldstein?

Thank you so much for Shel's website. I immediately went to it to relive some of my childhood memories. I also forwarded the link to some other Shel fans. The website will be visited quite often. Thanks again!

i was not given, as a little kid, the opportunity to know shel silverstein. no, i grew up on dickens and eliot and co.
but with my siblings it's a different story. silverstein should definitely be every kid's first poet. or among the first. [that just sounded ... presumptuous ...]
