a trace, a mark

Writing: a scrupulous attempt to preserve something, to make something last–plucking a few exact fragments from the deepening void, leaving somewhere or other a furrow, a trace, a mark, a few signs.

–Georges Perec (article: “Space”)

(I just figured out that becoming a professor has given me access to all kinds of academic databases and I’m finding articles I’ve never read before by my favorite writers. Wooohooo! I’m like a kid in a candy shop.)

Keri, I’d just like to thank you so much for what you do. Your books and activities always cheer me up when Im down and always give me the inspiration I need when I feel like I can’t accomplish anything.
I mean, just yesterday I was looking at your inspiration section and Im like “I didnt even know this was here!” Because during last week I was in a really big slump about my writing and drawings. I had no ideas whatsoever. I was so ticked that I hadn’t searched your blog for answers (which is a surprise because you’re one of my favorit authors)! I deffinatly know next time Ill be exploring your blog for inspiration.
Keep up the goo work! :)
